SHINE Cubbies are in-school hygiene hubs that provide students with free, essential hygiene items when they need them most. Stocked through community donations and local business partnerships, each cubby helps remove barriers to learning by ensuring students feel clean, confident, and ready to succeed in the classroom. SHINE Cubbies promote dignity, equity, and everyday wellness-because simple hygiene is needed everyday.
Why Hygiene Is Important to Me:
"Did you brush your teeth, wash your face, and put some deodorant on?" Growing up my childhood had always been that personal hygiene is a MUST and always comes first. When I was nine years old, I experienced my first cavity and I knew I had to visit a place where I knew I did NOT like. This was of course, the dentist. After going to the dentist, I realized then that the dentist was actually my favorite place. It honestly wasn't the prize at the end of the visit that made me smile, it was my dentist who inspired me by the way he made others smile so big and I wanted to follow along with SHINE. At the age of 9, my life was forever altered. That day, I decided my dream was to become a dentist, to make others feel proud of who they are and to create a beautiful smile for all. Everyone deserves to SHINE!
